Last evening I had the sincere privilege of taking my 9 year old nephew to the BMX track to get some practice in. He joined the local race league 2 weeks ago and fell in love with his bike. It reminds me so much of my own life as a kid. Bikes rule, that was reiterated last night. Not to mention, he has never ridden a track or anything more than a street in his life. He has no fear when it comes to giving it all he has where the big boys play

I think I’ve shot this before, but am not quite sure. I’m sure this is the better photo though. Shot around sunset on Saturday evening

An HDR is a combination of at least 2 photos. You take a few photos of the same subject with different exposers. Combining them in post processing to make 1 photo with perfect exposer. Lately it seems most HDR’s are way over processed and look like drawings more than photos. But HDR’s are simply an exposer tool, not what you would normally see when you Google HDR.

This was 3 separate photos. 1 for the Fort, 1 for the grass, and 1 for the sky. As you can tell, it doesn’t look completely natural, but it doesn’t look too wacky. I usually shoot as close to “perfect” as I can from the camera so that I don’t edit as much as possible, but it’s fun to try every now and then

Brad flying down a rocky hill. Normally shooting into the sun is a major no-no. But with the use of fill flash, you can sometimes use it to your advantage. I think it works very well here…(I just wish my camera bag wasn’t in the shot ;P )

It’s official, winter weather is gone. The flowers are finally starting to bloom! These are the first few flowers to grow in my wifes garden

It was pretty far away and I was shooting with my 18-55. I obviously had to crop this to even see the seagull. This is a 100% crop. No resizing. It’s fairly sharp, but it shows how soft the kit lens truely is. Luckily it was bright out. I can only imagine what the noise would look like with 100% crop, kit lens and a 350D with an ISO over 400 or so

First, I apologize for not posting in the past few days. We just bought a new computer and I had not yet loaded any photo software.

Second, my old place of employment, Kingston Custom Woodworking, finally closed it`s doors yesterday after 15 years in business. Many issues caused the closing, but either way, it`s gone. Aside from less than spectacular paychecks, I will miss it

The only thing special (to me anyways) about this photo, is it’s the first time I have ever successfully used a custom white balance. I was daunted, but after a little trial and error, it turns out it’s not too difficult

This animal (a deer?) has definitely seen better days. There was fur everywhere and various bones all over the ground in the general area. I just don’t understand how, or why, the spine/neck/head is up there

Kingston from atop a parking garage. I’ve been posting so many shots of Toronto, I thought I’d take one of Kingston last night during a bike ride to try and even things up a bit

I took the little dude through the car wash a little while ago. It’s crazy sometimes to think that things we shrug out shoulders at in boredom, can be fascinating for someone who has never seen it before. It’s for that reason I took him through a car wash that was not touch less.

I was pushing the ISO at 1800 and it was still very underexposed. I brightened it up a bit in PS, but it definietly shows
